Celebrate diversity in Guadalajara

Guadalajara is an example of inclusion, a city in which love can be lived in all its forms and that is why, although every day of the year Guadalajara is part of the fight for diversity, it is very important for us to join the pride month to honor, respect and celebrate the achievements of the LGBTTIQ+ community

The month of June each year is filled with colors to celebrate Pride Month, however, its origin does not come from such a happy moment, as it commemorates the Stonewall riots, an uprising in which a group of members of the community confronted the police to demand their right to be who they really were. That is why International LGBTTIQ+ Pride Day is celebrated on June 28, to raise awareness about tolerance and inclusion and celebrate the freedom we have when expressing our love and our identity.

Mariachi, tequila and Guadalajara diversity

The gastronomic, cultural and natural offer of Jalisco has turned the state into one of the community’s favorite tourist destinations. Spaces such as Ajijic, Mazamitla, Tequila, Puerto Vallarta and, of course, Guadalajara, are today considered gay-friendly due to their openness to diversity.

La Perla Tapatia is the second most important city in the country, and in addition to being the capital of Jalisco, it is an important LGBTTIQ+ tourist destination. The city has become so important to the community that its range of activities for this segment has grown. In 2018, the first edition of PROHIBIDO was held, a cultural festival that promotes artistic exhibitions from different disciplines and social events, exploring taboo topics and turning them into an unparalleled experience. In addition, Guadalajara recently applied for the second time and was one of the finalist cities to host Gay Games 2026, a sporting event that brings together participants from all over the world, promoting and promoting inclusion.

Likewise, the opening of the city and the presence of the community has made the march organized in Guadalajara one of the most relevant and attended at the national level. Due to pandemic reasons this year, as in 2020, the march will not take place, but you can be part of its hybrid event and see the activities on its social networks: Guadalajara Pride.

If you visit Guadalajara to celebrate Pride, you should know that there are hotels and restaurants that have protocols and certificates that train their team to provide a respectful and inclusive service to diversity, not only due to their orientation, but also due to physical and multicultural conditions.

Now that you know more about the tourist offer that Guadalajara has for you in June, don’t forget that the city welcomes you with a warm hug all year round, so any excuse is good to visit Guadalajara and have an incredible time.
